Unit 3: Sub Saharan Africa
This unit of study focuses on the historical, social, political, and economic impact of both the Atlantic slave trade and European imperialism. The complexity of the lingering effects of their historical experiences combined with a diverse population and longstanding ethnic conflicts have made Africa a troubled continent. While students will come to recognize its many challenges they should be encouraged to see its many strengths which include a resilient population and many valuable resources.
